Trainimals is a creature-raising fitness game. This policy explains what information the app handles, why it is used, and the choices available to you. Trainimals is operated by the independent Trainimals development team in the United Kingdom. Questions can be sent to trainimalsgame@gmail.com.
Information Trainimals handles
- Account information: if you choose to create an account, we use your email address and Firebase authentication details to sign you in and protect your account. You can play without creating an account.
- Game information: your creatures, eggs, colours, levels, stats, inventory, quests, rewards, preferences, streaks and other progress.
- Activity and health information: with your permission, Trainimals reads activity data such as steps, workouts, active minutes, active energy, distance and heart-rate summaries from Apple Health or Android Health Connect. Height and weight may be read when needed for activity calculations or display.
- Workout summaries: discipline, start and end time, duration, steps, active energy and summarised heart-rate values may be recorded. Trainimals does not upload raw per-second heart-rate samples.
- Approximate location: if you choose “Use my approximate area”, the app rounds your location to a broad area before requesting a forecast through the Trainimals weather service hosted on Netlify. That service retrieves forecasts from MET Norway. Precise coordinates stay on your device, and your location is not saved to your player account. Choosing a city or a Trainimals region does not require location permission.
- Device information: a random installation identifier, a general device label and platform may be used to keep cloud saves from different devices understandable and safe. Trainimals does not use an advertising identifier.
- Messages you send us: information you choose to include in support, feedback, waitlist or account-deletion requests.
- Giveaway entries: your name, email address, country, optional social handle, eligibility and rules confirmations, and submission details when you enter via the website.
How information is used
We use this information to hatch and train creatures, calculate progress, show health and workout history, maintain quests and streaks, sync optional cloud saves, recover data after a problem, provide weather-themed features, send the local reminders you choose, prevent duplicate activity credit, and respond to support requests.
Giveaway information is used only to check eligibility, prevent duplicate entries, run the draw, contact the winner and deliver the prize. Entering does not add you to the beta waitlist or a marketing list.
Where information is stored
Without an account, game progress is primarily stored on your device. If you sign in, game progress and summarised daily activity and workout records are stored using Google Firebase so that your collection can be backed up and synced. Raw HealthKit or Health Connect samples, detailed heart-rate series and precise location are not uploaded by Trainimals. Weather preferences and a short-lived forecast cache stay on your device. Our weather service temporarily caches forecasts for shared approximate areas without attaching an account or player identifier; routine hosting request logs may contain network information.
Services used
- Google Firebase provides optional authentication and cloud storage.
- Apple Health / HealthKit and Android Health Connect provide activity information only after you grant permission. Trainimals reads this information and does not write workouts or health records back from the phone app.
- MET Norway supplies forecasts through our weather service when you select a city or opt into local weather. Forecast data is provided under CC BY 4.0. Earlier app releases may retrieve weather directly from Open-Meteo.
- Netlify hosts the Trainimals website, processes forms submitted on it and runs the weather service. Local-weather requests contain only rounded coordinates, without an account identifier.
Trainimals does not sell personal information, show third-party advertising, or use health information for advertising.
Retention and deletion
Game progress and daily activity summaries are kept while your account remains active. Completed workout summaries are scheduled to expire after approximately 400 days. Temporary recovery copies may be kept for up to 30 days after a reset. Support and website messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond and maintain appropriate records. Giveaway entries are kept until the draw, prize delivery and any related queries or required records are resolved, then deleted when no longer needed.
You can reset game progress inside Trainimals. To delete the login account and its associated cloud data, use our account-deletion request page. We may ask you to verify control of the account before deletion. Some limited records may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention or legal obligations.
Your choices
You can play without signing in, decline or revoke health permissions in device settings, disable weather access, disable notifications, sign out, reset game progress, export local progress where available, and ask us to delete your account. Revoking a permission stops future access but does not automatically remove information already included in your game or cloud save.
Children
Trainimals is not intended to collect personal information from children without the consent and involvement required by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.
Security and changes
We use access controls and encrypted connections provided by the operating systems and service providers above. No system is perfectly secure. We may update this policy as Trainimals changes; the date at the top will show when it was last revised.
